A commission drawn for Kenbot, of theirs and their friend's characters.
The finished piece, delivered once again to a pleased client!
Added a layer of shadow to emphasize the contrast of the indirect light behind them and emphasize the closure.
Colored lineart and added light to the edges of the characters silhouette. From the obvious direction of light that comes from behind them.
Background and foreground are completed. The final steps are closing in.
Characters are mainly shaded, so the time came to paint the background and add depth to the scene. Foreground elements are being concepted here.
More shading! Adding more values and getting most of it done.
Shading green, along with the big pink mane of curls.
I was warned about the curls by the owner of the character, but i turned out to find them a great therapy to draw and shade.
Adding first shades and painting in the first pieces of clothing.
Some light shades and background to give better idea of the lighting and atmosphere.
Flats are being put in.
Lineart is completed and the base for colors is laid down.
After everything else came to work, i decided to change the expressions when lining. I was certainly more pleased with this change. It brought the personality out way more, yet still keeping it somewhat subtle enough for a specific mood.
Second sketch with colors and composition better put in mind.
Still not entirely convinced, but at least it was worth something to start working on.
First concept, tossed away after it gave me too much brain damage. It just didn't work.
